1 year after annexation of Ukrainian territories: Putin secures reconstruction

On the first anniversary of the annexation of four Ukrainian territories, Russian President Putin ensures reconstruction.

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin thus assured the annexed regions of Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk and Luhansk of reconstruction of the war-torn regions. “Schools, hospitals, residential buildings and roads, museums and monuments” would be rebuilt and reconstructed, the Russian president said in a video message released by the Kremlin. All of Russia’s regions were apparently providing their “brotherly help” in the reconstruction effort.

Annexation already 1 year ago

Exactly one year ago, Putin signed agreements with the heads of occupation of the four regions on their inclusion in the Russian Federation, in violation of international law and internationally unrecognized referendums. Western countries reject the action as illegal annexation. Ukraine continues to fight back and is leading a counteroffensive to free the territories from Russian occupation.

“Ahead of us lies a great work and the solution of difficult tasks, the implementation of a great program of reconstruction and socio-economic development of our historical regions,” Putin said in the video message.
