Attack launched: At least seven explosions in Crimea

On the Crimean peninsula, illegally annexed by Russia, several explosions occurred on August 23, 2023. This is reported by Jason Jay Smart, correspondent of the Kyiv Post. via X, formerly Twitter.

In the corresponding post, Smart writes: “Massive explosions in Russian-occupied Crimea: there are reports that Russian radar stations in Tarkhankut have been hit. At least seven explosions were heard.” Tarkhankut is a peninsula at the western end of Crimea.

Almost simultaneously, Sarah Ashton-Cirillo, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, posted a video on her X channel. In it she states, “Today, as Ukraine leads the third annual international gathering of the Crimean Platform, I want to remind you that all of us understand one fact: Crimea is Ukraine.”

The Crimea Platform is an action launched in 2023 by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reverse Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula. Among other things, the goal is to put the Crimean issue on the global agenda and to promote human rights protection in Crimea.
