After explosion: Moscow has declared a state of emergency

On Wednesday, Russian authorities declared a state of emergency after a powerful explosion occurred at the site of a defense factory near Moscow.

At least 45 people were injured in a powerful detonation in Sergiyev Possad, a town about 70 kilometers northeast of Moscow, according to official reports, as the German news platform tagesschau.de reported.

The explosion occurred in the morning in a warehouse for pyrotechnics rented by a company on a corporate site in the city, according to the administration of Sergiyev Possad via Telegram.

By evening, the official number of injured had risen to 56. According to state media reports, one female employee of the factory died due to her injuries. It is stated that five other injured are in critical condition.
