After Russian attack on UN hotel: United Nations with emotional statement

After a hotel in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine, was attacked by Russia, the United Nations spoke out with an emotional statement.

The hotel has been repeatedly used by the UN as a convention center. Ukraine coordinator Denise Brown said in the Press Release: “I am appalled by the news that a hotel frequently used by United Nations staff and our colleagues from non-governmental organizations to support people affected by the war was recently hit by a Russian attack in Zaporizhzhya. This is totally inadmissible.”

Brown calls on Russia to end war

Brown continued, “I have stayed at this hotel every time I have visited Zaporizhzhya. My team uses it as a base for their frequent trips to the city. It was the UN base for the operation to evacuate civilians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol last May. The number of indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians, has reached unimaginable levels – these attacks violate international humanitarian law. In the name of humanity, I call on the Russian Federation to comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law and immediately cease the indiscriminate attacks on Ukraine.” Ukraine has also accused Russia of launching targeted attacks on children, as a vacation camp for children and youth was being held at the hotel at the time of the attack (we reported).
