Alarm in Russia: attack on military office in Saint Petersburg

An unknown woman reportedly attempted to carry out an attack at a Russian military recruiting office in St. Petersburg on Tuesday evening local time. This reports The Kyiv Independent with reference to Russian state media.

According to the report, the woman had intended to set fire to the recruitment office. She was observed throwing a bottle with a flammable mixture towards the entrance and fled the building. Employees immediately extinguished the fire. Police are still searching for the perpetrator. Further, The Kyiv Independent, referring to another, unnamed pro-Kremlin news agency, reported that a video to that effect had been released. In the video, the woman can be seen approaching the entrance with a package and setting it on fire.

Already a few days ago a similar situation occurred. A man drove a truck into the gates of the draft office yard and tried to set it on fire. A possible background is the decision of the lower house of the Russian parliament to raise the age limit for conscription from 27 to 30.
