Attack on ambulance in Gaza Strip: Israel confirms attack

Israel’s army has now confirmed the suspected attack on an ambulance in the Gaza Strip.

The background to the attack was apparently that the ambulance was being used by terrorists, according to the army. According to the army, Israel’s army “neutralized” several terrorists during the attack. The Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health contradicted this claim. The ambulance was carrying wounded people who were to be treated in Egypt.

A total of 13 people were killed in the attack and 26 others were injured. The information provided by both sides cannot currently be independently verified.

WHO chief shocked

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhonam Ghebreyesus, is shocked by the latest reports of the ambulance being shot at. According to him, patients, medical staff, facilities and ambulances must be protected “at all times, always”.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also expressed his horror at the attack. The images are “shocking”.
