BBC: 190 drone attacks reported on Crimea and Russia

The British BBC reports a total of 190 suspected drone strikes on Russia and the illegally annexed Crimean peninsula in 2023, suggested by findings of a BCC research team, as the German news website n-tv.de reports.

The BBC staff analyzed in more detail the 190 attacks counted this year and concludes that focal points were on the Russian border regions with Ukraine, Moscow and the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula.

The West is split on the attacks, demanding that when Western weapons are delivered to Ukraine with a long range, they should not be used to attack Russian territory. Ukraine solves the problem by building its own drones or acquiring them commercially. Western weapons can then be used for missions on its own territory.

As recently as yesterday, August 30, consistent media reports had reported that Russia was facing drone attacks in several locations. On the night of August 31, 2023 local time, Russian air defenses also reportedly intercepted another drone targeting the capital, Moscow.
