Belarus: Military exercise in the border area with Poland and Lithuania – also with Wagner soldiers?

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense has announced that a brigade of the Separatist Guard will conduct an exercise in the Grodno area in western Belarus, near the Polish and Lithuanian borders.

This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense in its latest Update. In addition, Belarus stated that the exercise is intended to take into account and learn from the experience gained by the Russian military in Ukraine. According to the British, there is a realistic possibility that the Belarusian troops will also be joined by a small number of soldiers from the Wagner Group, who will perform a training function. These exercises in particular are most likely part of the routine training cycle of the Belarusian military. The 6th Mechanized Brigade of the Separatist Guard is located in Grodno, and it is rather unlikely that the formation is currently equipped with the necessary means that would make it combat-ready. But Russia is certainly interested in promoting the Belarusian armed forces as a bulwark against NATO.
