The British government believes that Russia could use sea mines against civilian ships in the Black Sea. This was reported by the German news platform n-tv.de.
“Russia is most likely to avoid openly sinking civilian ships and instead falsely blame Ukraine for attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea,” said a statement from the British Foreign Office, citing intelligence information. “By publishing our assessment of this information, the United Kingdom is attempting to expose Russia’s tactics to prevent such an incident.”
In July, Russia terminated its participation in an agreement that allowed Ukraine secure transportation of food through its traditionally important export corridor.
