British Ministry of Defense: Fighting intensifies

The British Ministry of Defence has indicated in its daily update that fighting along the banks of the Dnipro River is intensifying.

Ukraine has assigned higher priority to operations in this sector and has established small bridgeheads on the eastern bank, which they have controlled since the summer. The British report further states that “Russia is likely to be on guard for potential attacks on the other side of the river” after the country withdrew its forces from the western bank 12 months ago.

The British Ministry of Defence also mentioned that the area would be under the control of the newly established 18th Combined Arms Army after some of the units previously stationed in this area were moved to the Orikhiv axis. Furthermore, the daily update states: “As in most sectors, a crucial factor is almost certainly the combatants’ ability to conduct precise and intensive artillery fire. Initial indications suggest that Russia has a considerable artillery capacity near the river.”
