Doctor is said to have predicted imminent death: “Severe deterioration of Putin’s health”

Last week, rumors resurfaced that the health of Russian President Vladimir Putin is deteriorating. There are even rumors that a body double may need to be used. But what is the truth behind these claims?

As reported by merkur.de, headlines appeared claiming that Putin’s doctor had predicted his “imminent death given a severe deterioration of his health,” traced back to claims made by the Telegram channel General SVR. However, this channel relies on anonymous sources. It also claims that Putin’s inner circle of power is already consulting on how to proceed after the alleged death of their president. However, much of the assumptions about the Russian president’s health are based on video recordings showing him making awkward movements. Given their unprofessional remote diagnosis nature, these should rather be rated as rumors and nothing more. The Kremlin voluntarily releasing data on Putin’s health is, however, unlikely. Therefore, the report from General SVR should be treated with significant skepticism.
