Drone attack: Putin’s “kamikaze” attack goes wrong

According to preliminary data released by the Ukrainian Air Force on September 20, 17 of 24 Russian attack drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems during the night.

Air defense brought down the “kamikaze” drones of the Shahed type over the regions of Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk, as reported by The Kyiv Independent.

In addition, Russian shelling damaged a fire and rescue station in Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia oblast on the evening of September 19, the State Emergency Service reported on September 20. According to the report, no emergency personnel were injured in the attack and the firefighters’ equipment remained unharmed.

Orikhiv was one of 24 towns in Zaporizhzhya oblast attacked by Russian forces the previous day, Governor Yuri Malashko announced on the morning of September 20. The town, from which almost all civilians have since moved, is located about ten kilometers from the section of the front line where some of the fiercest fighting of the Ukrainian counteroffensive is taking place, according to The Kyiv Independent.
