According to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the country has made “enormous progress” in destroying Russian military facilities on the occupied Crimea. This was reported by The Kyiv Independent.
Danilov emphasized that Ukraine is currently making great progress in the Crimea direction. Earlier this month, Ukrainian officials confirmed the destruction of a newly built Russian cruise missile ship named Askold in Kerch. The Karakurt-class warship was launched in 2021 and had not yet entered service in the Russian navy. The British Ministry of Defense reported that the damage to the ship will likely render it inoperable for the foreseeable future, as noted by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on November 7.
Ukrainian forces have previously carried out other successful attacks against Russian facilities in Crimea, including the destruction of a Russian missile defense system and attacks on the Crimean Bridge. Danilov stressed that the destruction of assets of the Russian Federation in Crimea and the impairment of the Black Sea Fleet are “enormous achievements” for Ukraine.
