Erdogan voices massive criticism against Western countries: “A disaster for our region”

The revival of the grain agreement with Ukraine was made by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey dependent on the conditions of the West, as the German news website tagesschau.de reports.

President Erdogan said that renewed implementation of the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain depended on Western countries and that they had to keep their promises. He criticized the West for not taking the necessary steps to transform the positive atmosphere created by the Black Sea Initiative into a ceasefire and eventually into a permanent peace agreement.

Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s clear stance on the matter during a conference of ambassadors in Ankara. He warned of the possible consequences of extending the conflict to the Black Sea, stressing that this would mean a disaster for the region. At the same time, he noted that a solution was possible and referred to a recent telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
