Expert warns about Russia: Then it’s about a nuclear strike against Berlin

In an interview with German public broadcasting service ZDF, military expert Christian Mölling commented that the situation for Ukraine “does not look good currently.” Even if Kyiv is pressured into talks with Russia, Mölling believes Moscow will continue to pose a threat to Europe.

Mölling responded to the question of whether everyone realizes the long-lasting impact of the outcome of this war – potentially shaping the next 10, 20, or more years – by saying, “I have the impression that it is not clear to everyone.” He argues that the timeframe should not be measured in decades, but rather in five to six years. If Ukraine does not receive help, it endangers its own security and encourages Russia, which feels emboldened by its success in using war to achieve its interests. Moreover, Russia, reaping the benefits of its exhausted war economy, will be capable of continuing to threaten Europe. Mölling warns that the concern then would not be about a nuclear strike or escalation against Kyiv, but a potential nuclear escalation that might bring Berlin into focus.
