High Losses: SBU Drones Attack Military Camps in Russian Territory

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) launched at least 18 drone attacks on a Russian military camp on the night of October 17-18.

This was reported The Kyiv Independent. The camp is located near the Chalino air force base in the Russian territory around Kursk. According to the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda, citing a source within the SBU, the exact number of casualties is still being determined. However, the source told the newspaper that the attacks caused significant damage and pointed out that up to 3,000 soldiers and military equipment are housed at the military facility. A video was released on social media allegedly showing explosions in the military camp.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its forces shot down 28 drones over the Belgorod and Kursk regions during the night. Roman Starovoit, the governor of Kursk Oblast, stated that the debris from the downed drones caused minor damage to civilian buildings, but there were no fatalities. Ukrainian media have reported on a previous attack on the Chalino air force base, in which several high-ranking officers were reportedly killed or injured.
