Impending Wave of Attacks: Ukraine Seeks to Sever Russia’s Key “Nerve”

Vasyl Maliuk paints a bleak picture of the future of the Crimea Bridge and issues unmistakable threats to Russia. He believes that the collapse of the bridge would strike a decisive blow against the lifeline of Vladimir Putin’s invasion army, potentially sealing the outcome of the Ukraine war.

According to the Münchner Merkur, the bridge is thus the primary target of Ukrainian wrath. As reported by the German news platform Focus, Maliuk, who serves as the head of Ukraine’s domestic intelligence service SBU, stated unequivocally in a television documentary that Russia’s unhindered access to the peninsula would become a hopeless situation. He warns of impending new attacks by Ukraine. In his words, the bridge is ultimately doomed to destruction and would represent a significant setback for Moscow’s imperialist posture before the world public.

Western observers see clear advantages for the Ukrainian defense forces in the battles around Crimea. Marcus Keupp, a military economist, expresses critical views in an interview with the Tagesschau on the devastating impact of the attacks on Crimea for Russia, as reported by the German news website Münchner Merkur. As a scholar at the Military Academy of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, who deals with trade and logistics in war, Keupp emphasizes in his analysis that the Russians currently have little to counter the Ukrainian attacks. This is mainly due to logistical bottlenecks, which they are scarcely able to manage.
