Intelligence chief gives Russia no more than a year: ‘Down’ and ‘panicking’

Russia will not last another year in the ongoing Ukraine war. Ukrainian Lieutenant General and head of the Military Security Service Kyrylo Budanov is convinced of this at the “Yalta European Strategy” congress in Kiev. This reports the German news website merkur.de.

Budanov declares that the Russian leadership has overreached itself with its large-scale invasion – in view of Ukraine’s drone attacks, Budanov even assumes “sure signs of panic” among the Russian population. At the same time, he wants to expand strategic bombardments.

The enemy is “physically down,” according to Budanov’s assessment. He no longer expects a long resistance. “Based on our data, I personally believe that the war will not be a prolonged conflict.” Budanov believes that Ukraine will win the war for itself by the end of 2024 and will have restored the internationally recognized borders.

This information comes from a party to the conflict and has not yet been independently verified / confirmed. For this reason, the report must be evaluated with reservations. In war, it can be advantageous for parties to make false statements about the course of the conflict in order to strengthen their own position or weaken the position of the opponent.
