Intelligence: Russian command point destroyed

Based on intelligence information, the Ukrainian army destroyed a command center of the Russian armed forces in the occupied city of Melitopol.

According to reports, the staff was hidden in an engine factory, Ukrainian media reported, citing the SBU intelligence service. A missile strike eventually destroyed the target. The city of Melitopol in southern Ukraine serves the Russian occupation as the administrative capital for the not yet fully conquered Zaporizhzhya region.

The Ukrainian side claimed to have injured the commander of the 58th Russian Army and his chief of staff during the attack, as the German news website n-tv.de reported. No specific details were given as to when the attack was said to have occurred. However, photos of smoke columns over Melitopol appeared on social networks on Tuesday.

This information comes from a party to the conflict and has not yet been independently verified / confirmed. For this reason, the report must be evaluated with reservations. In war, it can be advantageous for parties to make false statements about the course of the conflict in order to strengthen their own position or weaken the position of the opponent.
