ISW: Iran supplies Russia with glide bombs

The National Security Advisor of the USA, John Kirby, stated that Iran is supplying Russia with glide bombs. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Kirby also mentioned that Iran might be making arrangements to supply Russia with short-range ballistic missiles. The ISW has observed that Russian forces in the directions of Lyman and Kherson are increasingly using glide bombs, especially modified FAB-500, KAB-500, and RPK-500 aerial bombs equipped with glide bomb structures. It’s unclear if Kirby meant that Iran is supplying Russia with glide bomb components or with fully constructed glide bombs. Kirby added that Iran continues to supply Russia with drones and artillery ammunition.

A Russian military blogger claimed that Russian Su-25 aircraft could be compatible with Iranian glide bombs. At the Russian Army-2023 forum in Moscow, Iran presented several variants of glide bombs. In addition, such were also presented during a visit of the Russian Defense Minister to Tehran.
