ISW: Ukrainian army advances

Ukraine has made further advancements around the city of Bakhmut, according to the U.S.-based think tank Institute for the Study of War. This is reported by the German news website fr.de.

The ISW justifies its assumptions with reference to geolocated photographs. It said Ukrainian troops had advanced about ten kilometers north of Bakhmut near the village of Orikhovo-Vasylivka. However, the progress was “minor.”

In addition, Ukraine had also made progress in the Zaporizhzhya region. According to the report, Ukrainian troops have taken from Russia its trench in the region, which is about one kilometer long. ISW experts further state that the absence of Russian troops may allow further terrain gains near the village of Orikhiv.

ISW is a U.S.-based think tank that provides research and analysis on defense and foreign policy issues. It was founded in 2007 by military historian Kimberly Kagan.
