According to its own statements, the Ukrainian military intelligence service has successfully carried out a ‘cyber special operation’ against the Russian aviation authority Rosaviatsia, revealing significant deficiencies in the country’s civil aviation. This was reported by the German news website n-tv.de.
These findings come from leaked documents that were published online by Kyiv and are referred to as ‘confidential service documents of the Russian Ministry of Transport’. The Ukrainians have listed numerous incidents with airplanes and problems with the availability of spare parts and repairs. It is emphasized that Western sanctions would ‘accelerate the collapse’. The analysis of the obtained documents shows that several failures, especially in the areas of engines and landing gear, are of a systematic nature. Kyiv accuses Moscow of hiding these problems from the population and exposing them to ‘deadly danger’.
These claims have not yet been verified and/or confirmed by independent sources. Therefore, they should be viewed with caution. In war, it can be advantageous for the parties involved to deliberately spread misinformation to strengthen their own position or weaken that of the enemy.
