Massive explosions: Blackout in Moscow

Media in Ukraine report a widespread power outage in parts of the Moscow region.

Early in the morning, explosions were reported near substations, according to the Kyiv Independent. In particular, the city of Lytkarino, located about 30 kilometers southeast of the Russian capital and with a population of 55,000, is said to be affected by a complete power outage.

Lithuania is increasing its military aid to Ukraine in the fight against Russia, as reported by the German news website n-tv.de. The Baltic EU and NATO country has provided the Ukrainian army with ammunition, remote detonation systems, and winter equipment, according to the Ministry of Defense in Vilnius. Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas emphasizes that Lithuania’s commitment to Ukraine remains unwavering. The aid package was specifically tailored to the ‘most important needs and priorities of Ukraine.’ Lithuania is internationally one of the most determined supporters of Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense, the Baltic state, with about 2.9 million inhabitants, has provided military assistance amounting to about half a billion euros since the Russian attack.
