Massive Russian attack on Avdiivka: “The third wave has begun”

Ukrainian authorities have announced that the Russian army has launched the third wave of attacks on the eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka since October 10, as reported by the German news website n-tv.de.

Mayor Vitaly Barabash commented on Ukrainian television: “The third wave has begun. They are attacking from all sides, using a lot of infantry,” and added that the center of the industrial city is being systematically bombarded. The city in the Donetsk region has been almost completely surrounded by Russian troops for more than a month, except for one access road.

Nevertheless, Russian forces in the battle for Avdiivka are apparently facing significant losses, leading to overcrowded hospitals. This information comes from a report by the “Kyiv Post,” based on an intercepted call from a Russian soldier by the intelligence service. The soldier reports: “There are many people here, and the wounded are literally brought here every day by truck. Many dead as well. I’m lying in a civilian hospital because the military hospital is overcrowded – three floors packed.” He further describes that most of the wounded being brought in are from Avdiivka. Although the authenticity of the call is not confirmed, both Ukrainian and Russian sources, as well as independent ones, indicate that Russia is currently suffering massive losses and the daily death rate of soldiers has reached an all-time high.
