North Korea: Kim intensifies war preparations

According to state media, North Korean leader Kim is apparently seeking to intensify the People’s Army’s preparations for war. Pyongyang reportedly accuses “hostile forces” of planning a military confrontation.

North Korea apparently plans to increase the readiness of its armed forces for a possible conflict on the Korean Peninsula, according to the German news website tagesschau.de. The Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party met in an expanded session in Pyongyang to make important military directives on the deployment of troops on the front lines and the forward planning of new war exercises. State-controlled media reported on the matter. According to these sources, strongman Kim Jong Un personally signed an order to that effect.

Kim reportedly analyzed the situation on and around the peninsula and concluded that the People’s Army’s war preparations should be stepped up offensively. The goal, he said, was to neutralize all forms of enemy attacks if war broke out. During the past few days, the ruler has visited various weapons factories in the country, according to state media. During these visits, he emphasized that rearmament was planned and that the army’s readiness for war would be strengthened.
