Putin: U.S. war with Russia and China is “nonsense”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the possibility of the United States simultaneously going to war with Russia and China as “nonsense”, as reported by the German news website n-tv.de.

According to Putin, the idea of a war between nuclear powers is something that “nobody in their right mind” would consider. Putin’s comments are in response to a recommendation from a bipartisan committee in the U.S. Congress.

This committee recently suggested that the United States should prepare for potential simultaneous conflicts with Russia and China by strengthening its conventional forces, modernizing nuclear weapons, and solidifying alliances. A senior member of the committee expressed concerns that cooperation between Moscow and Beijing could lead to two simultaneous wars. The current U.S. national security strategy aims to win one conflict while preventing another.

China has strongly reacted to the U.S. report on the possibility of simultaneous wars with Russia and China. According to a Newsweek report, the People’s Republic issued a stern warning: “Those who play with fire will perish by it.”
