Putin’s fighter jet crashes over own territory

A Russian Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in the Volgograd region on the Volga River, according to the German news website n-tv.de.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has said that there were no weapons on board the aircraft and that the crash occurred in an unpopulated area. Information about the fate of the two pilots was not provided. The Su-24, an aircraft developed during the Soviet era, is designed to engage ground targets. Both in the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and on the side of Ukraine, this type of aircraft is used.
