Putin’s strategy goes wrong: Shahed drones shot down

On October 12, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that it had shot down 28 of the total 33 Shahed type drones that were launched by Russia the previous night, as reported by The Kyiv Independent.

According to the Air Force’s announcement, these drones were launched from Chauda in the occupied Crimea and from the Russian border region of Belgorod. Their flight direction led them to various targets in Ukraine. The air defense was in operation in at least six oblasts, including the southern regions of Odesa and Mykolaiv.

The Air Force stated that the country’s air forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling these attacks.

These claims have not yet been independently verified and/or confirmed. For this reason, they should be treated with caution. In war, it can be advantageous for warring parties to deliberately spread false information to strengthen their own position or weaken that of the opponent.
