Resistance: Partisans Plunge Russian City into Turmoil

In the Russian region of Tyumen, a fire several meters high is reported to have been ignited. This is reported by Jason Jay Smart, a correspondent for the Kyiv Post, on the short messaging service X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the relevant post, Smart writes: “Russian partisans destroyed a transformer station on the Sverdlovsk railway in the Tyumen region, Russia. This will block Russian military transport to Ukraine.” The attached video shows the fire that was ignited, spreading rapidly.

These claims have not yet been independently verified and/or confirmed. Therefore, they should be treated with caution. In war, it can be advantageous for conflicting parties to deliberately spread misinformation to strengthen their own position or weaken the opponent’s.

This would not be the first initiative of this kind, as reported by the German news website Frankfurter Rundschau. The covert units of Ukraine pose a serious challenge to Russia; the partisans are seen as a kind of extended arm of the Ukrainian army. Since the beginning of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Ukrainian partisans have already successfully sabotaged the supply of ammunition and fuel to the Russian military. Furthermore, they are suspected of carrying out a bomb attack in the Melitopol district that hit a vehicle carrying Chechen soldiers who were fighting on behalf of Russia.
