Russian drone explodes on NATO territory

A Russian drone has exploded on NATO territory. This reports the German news website n-tv.de with reference to data from the Ukrainian Border Guard.

This was triggered by Russia’s overnight attacks on Ukrainian Black Sea ports. In the process, Russian drones also fell into the neighboring territory of Romania. It is unclear whether this was an errant drone or the result of Ukrainian air defenses shooting down some Shahed drones while still in the air. The drone in question had fallen on Romanian territory and exploded there. Confirmation from the Romanian side is still pending.

Romania has been a member of NATO since 2004. The transatlantic defense alliance is concerned not to provoke a direct conflict with Russia, but would have to provide assistance to all member countries in the event of an attack.

This information comes from a party to the conflict and has not yet been independently verified / confirmed. For this reason, the report must be evaluated with reservations. In war, it can be advantageous for parties to make false statements about the course of the conflict in order to strengthen their own position or weaken the position of the opponent.
