Russian general with statement: Moscow’s culture of lies prevents victory in Ukraine

Russian lawmaker and former military commander Andrei Gurulev comments on Russia’s current status in the war against Ukraine.

Gurulev’s words are clear. According to the report, he complained that Moscow’s culture of lies was preventing Russia from achieving victory in Ukraine. This was stated by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its report of September 15.

Many problems in the Russian military

Via Telegram, Gurulev also expressed that lies and false reports within the military would lead to “wrong decisions on many different levels.” Furthermore, he said, the Russian military was facing many problems. Improvements in Ukrainian air defenses apparently have affected the effectiveness of Russian helicopters, he said. In addition, the Russian official complains about Ukraine’s ability to attack rear areas of Russia with drones.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that Gurulev’s statements carry weight because of his high-level military experience.
