According to initial reports, strong explosions have occurred on the Crimean peninsula, which was illegally annexed by Russia. Via the network X, formerly Twitter, the media project NEXTA writes:
“Military helicopters are flying over Krasnoperekopsk (a city in the north of Crimea). There are reports that strong explosions were heard in the region. The X account “Black Hat” posts a presumed video that is supposed to show the consequences of an explosion. Black smoke can be seen rising into the sky behind a few buildings. Whether this is actual footage of the incident has not yet been verified.
Just on Monday, Ukraine announced that the Boiko Towers in the Black Sea were back under Ukrainian control. They had been controlled by Russia since 2015. This conquest was described as not only symbolic, but also militarily meaningful. With the recapture, one would also come “many steps closer” to the reconquest of Crimea.
