Several people killed: explosions and fires in Russia

Explosions and fires are reported from Russia on August 14 at an oil field in Western Siberia and at a gas station in the Russian Republic of Dagestan. This reports The Kyiv Independent with reference to Russian state media.

Specifically, an explosion occurred at the Talinskoye oil field in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug in Western Siberia, killing two people. It further says that five people were injured in the incident. The Kyiv Independent refers to information from the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. According to the authorities, the explosion occurred at 10:20 p.m. local time and caused a fire in an area of 100 square meters.

The same day, an explosion was reported at a gas station in Makhachkala (Dagestan). This was reported by The Kyiv Independent with reference to the head of the regional government, Sergei Melikov. At least five people died and ten others were injured in the incident in Dagestan. The fire spread to an area of 500 square meters, according to Russia’s TASS news agency.

No more detailed information is provided on the causes. Since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine, reports of fires have been increasing throughout Russia.
