Skyscraper hit: Ukraine attacks Moscow city area

In the early morning of August 23, 2023 local time, three drones were spotted in Moscow. This reportsThe Kyiv Independent with reference to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to Russian sources, two of the three drones were shot down by air defense. A third drone hit a building in Moscow city area. According to initial information, there are no casualties.

Via X, formerly Twitter, Jason Jay Smart, correspondent for the Kyiv Post, posts a video purporting to show the Ukrainian drone hitting the skyscraper in Moscow. A bright flash can be seen, followed by sparks on the outer facade of the skyscraper.

Most recently, the Russian capital has been repeatedly targeted by drones. As recently as August 21, Russia claimed it had intercepted two drones over Moscow. In the process, two people were injured, according to Russian reports. On July 30 and August 1, two drones caused damage to the “Moscow City” building, where several Russian ministries are also located.

This information has not yet been independently confirmed. For this reason, they are to be evaluated with reservations.
