Success for Russia: conquest of land around Avdiivka

The severe fighting around Avdiivka continues unabated. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has now reported that the Russian armed forces have conquered about four square kilometers around the city.

This reported The Kyiv Independent. In its latest assessment, the ISW shared that the Russian forces have conquered 4.5 square kilometers since October 10. The experts also determined that the Russian forces are still about 5.2 kilometers away from the border to Avdiivka. Russian claims of advances beyond this distance are considered exaggerated. Russian sources, on the other hand, claim that the forces are attempting to encircle the Ukrainian soldiers in Avdiivka but admitted directly that the current advances are progressing slowly.

Russian military bloggers: Russia has gained further ground

Denis Pushilin, the head of the Russian representatives in the occupied Donetsk area, claimed that despite some Russian advances in the region, it is too early to talk about a “comprehensive exodus from the city.” Military bloggers from Russia, however, claim that the Russian armed forces have gained further ground at a landfill on the north side of the city. The Institute has not yet been able to confirm these claims.
