Tank decoys: Ukraine misleads Russia

Modern weapons like anti-aircraft systems and missile launchers are scarce in Ukraine, and every system is considered valuable in combat. One operation has specialized in using cheap diversions to protect expensive weapons. Sophisticated decoys are placed all along the front to lure Russian attacks.

Ukrainian soldiers have released a video (click here for the video on Telegram), showing a decoy of a tank that was destroyed by the Russian army. At the front, Ukrainians regularly use decoys to attract Russian attacks. As early as September, the German news website ntv.de reported on an operation that produces such decoys for the Ukrainian army.

These statements have not yet been verified and/or confirmed by an independent party. Therefore, they should be considered with caution. In war, it can be advantageous for conflicting parties to deliberately spread misinformation to strengthen their own position or weaken the opponent’s.
