Telephone conversation between Scholz and Selenskyj: “Continued and unbreakable solidarity”.

The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj spoke on the phone about the current situation.

According to the statement, the two politicians had exchanged views on the political, military and humanitarian situation in Ukraine, Scholz’s government spokesman said afterwards. Selenskyj had informed the chancellor and SPD politician about the effects of the latest Russian attacks and thanked the German government for its support.

In doing so, Scholz assured Selenskyj of “continued and unbreakable solidarity,” especially in light of Russia’s “unchanged aggression.” The chancellor further assured that Germany would continue its support for Ukraine in close coordination with European and international partners.

Federal Environment Minister also with supportive words

Environment Minister Steffi Lemke also pledges support to Ukraine in repairing war-related environmental damage. “The Russian war of aggression brings immeasurable suffering for people and it also means considerable destruction of nature and the environment – acutely and in the long term,” Lemke said in Kiev. The extent of the consequences will be seen for years, “if not decades,” according to the German environment minister. The background to her words is her participation in the international conference for a climate-friendly reconstruction of the country.
