Trump: 40 million for lawyers – in six months

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has amassed $40 million in legal fees in the past six months. Trump has faced several lawsuits in recent months.

Like spiegel.de citing the Washington Post, Trump’s political finance committee (PAC) has spent about $40.2 million on his lawyers in the past six months. Several lawsuits are or have been filed against the former U.S. president in New York, Florida, and Washington – more could be added. Regardless, Trump continues to be far ahead in the polls in an upcoming presidential bid, and his supporters care little about their leader’s legal entanglements. The expenses are also currently the subject of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, due to possible conflicts of interest between Trump and trial witnesses.

The PAC they have faced such high costs this year that a donation of 60 million euros will be reclaimed, the New York Times reported. This may indicate a possible financial crisis for the former president. Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump’s campaign, declined to comment on the clawback. He said only, “The armed Justice Department continues to prosecute innocent Americans because they worked for President Trump and they know they don’t have a legitimate case.” Trump’s campaign team did not initially respond to a request for comment. In U.S. history, Trump is the first former president to be indicted for withholding secret documents.
