Ukraine attacks own city 24 times

According to Russian data, the city of Donetsk is shelled by Ukrainian forces. This reports the German news website n-tv.de.

According to the report of the Russian news agency TASS, the city of Donetsk was shelled seven times by the Ukrainian armed forces within about an hour. This happened in the early morning in the districts of Petrovsky, Kirovsky, Kuibyshev and Kievsky. Since the beginning of the day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have shelled the “Donetsk People’s Republic” a total of 24 times, firing more than 80 projectiles. It is important to note that the city of Donetsk is occupied by Russian troops and is located in the east of Ukraine.

According to Ukrainian sources, eight people were killed when two Russian missiles hit a residential building in the town of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, as the German news platform tagesschau.de reports. The governor of the region, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informs that five of the victims were civilians. The first missile hit the town, which is under Ukrainian control, and 40 minutes later the second missile struck. First responders were injured and killed, eyewitnesses to the impact told a Reuters cameraman. Pictures from the city show rescue workers sifting through rubble, a wrecked car and an apartment building with balconies torn off.
