Ukraine destroys Russian warships near Crimea

The Ukrainian army says it damaged two Russian ships during the night due to attacks with water drones near the annexed Black Sea peninsula of Crimea.

The Army’s Strategic Communications Department said that a total of two Russian patrol boats were attacked and some damage was recorded, as the German news website tagesschau.de reports. Russia has so far only confirmed the attack on the “Sergei Kotov,” one of the patrol boats of its Black Sea fleet, but claims to have successfully repelled all five water drones deployed by Ukraine. Previously, there were also attacks on Crimea itself, already annexed by Russia since 2014. According to Ukrainian sources, a modern “S-400 Triumf” air defense system was hit near the city of Yevpatoriya.

This information has not yet been verified / confirmed. For this reason, the report is to be evaluated with reservations. In war, it can be advantageous for parties to make false statements about the course of the conflict in order to strengthen their own position or to weaken the position of the opponent.
