Ukraine’s Secret Service Suspected in Assassination Bid on Pro-Russian Tsaryov

Ukraine’s Security Tangled in Political Drama: Meduza Exposes Link to Attack on Pro-Russian Tsaryov.

The assassination of Oleg Tsaryov, a former member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, is being linked to an alleged “special operation” by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), as reported by Meduza, an independent Russian media platform. Citing other media outlets, which claim to have an insider source within the SBU, Meduza suggests that Tsaryov was seen as a “valid target” by the SBU. This source indicates that Tsaryov, known for his pro-Russian sentiments, had not only backed the “Russian worldview” but also sought to seize Kiev with Russian assistance.

Russian Media’s Response to Tsaryov’s Assault After an attack on Tsaryov in Yalta, Crimea, was reported on October 27 by Russian media, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) initiated an investigation. Worth noting, as Meduza points out, is that Ukraine had sentenced Tsaryov in absentia to 12 years in prison back in 2022. This sentence was due to his involvement in the 2014-2015 separatist movement, which had Russia’s backing.
