50 square meters in flames: Attack on Russian aluminum factory?

According to reports, a fire broke out in the early hours at the Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant, a company owned by Rusal. This information comes from officials of the local Ministry of Emergency Situations and was announced by the Russian state news agency TASS.

“At 08:57 (1:57 GMT), a fire was reported on the premises of the Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant (KrAZ),” the agency quotes the officials according to the German news website n-tv.de. “A transformer caught fire on an area of 50 square meters.” The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Rusal is the world’s largest aluminum producer outside of China.

These reports come from one party involved in the conflict and have not been independently verified and/or confirmed. Therefore, they should be regarded with caution. In times of war, it can be advantageous for parties in the conflict to deliberately spread misinformation to strengthen their own position or weaken that of the opponent.
