Alert in Russia: Attack in the southern area of Moscow

Russia reports repelling another drone attack in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow. This reports the German news platform merkur.de with reference to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the report, three Ukrainian drones were destroyed by air defense on Wednesday morning local time (August 16, 2023). The unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in the south of the region, the governor of Kaluga, Vladislav Shapsha, further explains. According to his account, there are no casualties or property damage. According to Russian data, this is the fifth repelled drone attack in Kaluga since the beginning of the month.

Kaluga is located about 500 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border. It is located just under 200 kilometers southwest of the Russian capital Moscow.
