British Ministry of Defense: Ukrainian counteroffensive advances in Bakhmut

Every day since the escalation of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine in February 2022, the British Ministry of Defense publishes its assessment of the situation in the conflict. On September 20, 2023, it is about the successes of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

According to British reports, the Ukrainian counteroffensive near the town of Bakhmut in the eastern part of the country is making progress. The recapture of the villages of Klishchivka and Andriivka south of the town brings Ukrainian troops closer to one of the main supply routes of the Russian occupiers, the T 05-13 road, the British Ministry of Defense said.

In addition, the Russian defense of Bakhmut has lost strength as Russian airborne troops have been moved to the front line in Zaporizhzhya, southern Ukraine. “However, Russia still controls the railroad line between Klishchivka and T 05-13, which runs along an embankment and is an easily defensible obstacle,” London added, according to the German news platform n-tv.de.
