Building satellites with North Korea: “Presence in space”

Meeting at Russia’s Vostochny spaceport, Russian President Vladimir Putin pledges his support to his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Un. This reports the German news website n-tv.de.

According to reports from Russian news agencies, he has announced that Russia will assist North Korea in building satellites. Putin reportedly said that Kim Jong Un, the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, shows great interest in rocket and space technology and is eager to expand his presence in space. Asked by journalists whether the meeting would include military cooperation, the Russian president said, “We will talk about all issues, without haste. We have enough time.”

According to state news agency KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un considers his visit to Russia a clear demonstration of the “strategic importance” of relations between the two countries.
