In view of past incidents, Green Party leader Ricarda Lang warns against general suspicion of Muslims.
In an interview with the German newspaper “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”, Lang warns against a general suspicion of Muslims in view of anti-Semitic incidents at pro-Palestinian demonstrations. According to the Green politician, there are many voices from the Islamic community that have taken a clear stand against Hamas. However, Lang would have liked to see a “clearer statement from the Islamic associations,” she said.
She goes on to say that the associations have a responsibility to counter anti-Semitism. Ricarda Lang also spoke out in favor of a “social alliance against anti-Semitism.” “Sports clubs, business associations, trade unions and churches must now stand up together,” she said.
The Green politician rejected calls for consequences for anti-Semites under residence law. The constitutional state is capable of acting and has the “instruments it needs in its hands”.
