Heaviest Russian attack since the beginning of the invasion: 60 tanks in action

In the industrial city of Avdiivka in Eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian troops are putting up a determined resistance against a sudden offensive by the Russian armed forces, as reported by the German news website n-tv.de.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that 13 Russian attacks near Avdiivka were repelled, while another 10 attacks near the village of Stepove, located slightly to the north, were also pushed back. The military administration chief of Avdiivka, Vitaliy Barabash, described the Russian attacks as the most intense since the beginning of the invasion in February 2022. Reports on Tuesday indicated that about 60 tanks were deployed. Currently, Russian infantry units are attacking with air support but without tank support, Barabash told the radio station Donbass Realii. More than 23 missiles were fired at the city area alone on Wednesday. Russian sources reported territorial gains north of Avdiivka.

These claims have not yet been independently verified and/or confirmed. For this reason, they should be treated with caution. In war, it can be advantageous for warring parties to deliberately spread false information to strengthen their own position or weaken that of the opponent.
