Once again, Dmitry Medvedev brings up a possible use of nuclear weapons by Russia as the German news portal n-tv.de reports.
According to Reuters, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons, has said that Moscow could be forced to use a nuclear weapon if Kiev’s ongoing counteroffensive succeeds.
As deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, he expressed his views in a message circulated on the Internet, stressing that in such a scenario Russia would be forced to act in accordance with its own nuclear doctrine. He presented the idea that a NATO-backed offensive would be successful and steal parts of Russian territory. In such a case, according to Medvedev, Russia would be forced to use a nuclear weapon in accordance with a decree issued by the Russian president. Russia’s declared annexations of Ukrainian territory are not recognized internationally.
