In just 24 hours: Russia loses almost 600 soldiers

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has said in its latest update that Russia has already lost 252,780 soldiers since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine.

Like The Kyiv Independent reported, these figures include those 580 soldiers who have fallen victim to the war in the past 24 hours. According to the report, Russia has also lost 4,290 tanks, 8,318 armored combat vehicles, 7,511 vehicles and fuel tanks, 5,043 artillery systems, 713 multiple rocket launchers, 471 air defense systems, 315 aircraft, 313 helicopters, 4,197 drones and 18 boats.

Oleksandra Azarkhina, Ukraine’s deputy infrastructure minister, described support for military defense as a base. According to n-tv.de she told Der Spiegel: “Germany helped us militarily just last winter in such a way that we are safe here in Kiev.” But for Azarkhina, the war is not just about weapons; there also needs to be more help with reconstruction. “Economic development is part of the resistance to Russia. We pay our soldiers from the state budget. If we don’t have a functioning economy, we don’t have tax revenues,” the Ukrainian deputy infrastructure minister said. The magazine reported, citing the Ukrainian government, that 144,536 private homes and 18,754 apartment buildings have been severely hit so far in the war of aggression on Ukraine. In addition, more than 300 road bridges, 1733 schools, 979 kindergartens and 864 health facilities have been damaged or completely destroyed by the fighting.
