ISW Weighs In: Can Winter Chill Halt Ukraine’s Fierce Counteroffensive?

Ukraine’s Counteroffensive Undeterred by Winter: ISW Highlights Power Dynamics and Western Backing.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) postulates that the impending chill of winter won’t halt Ukraine’s determined counteroffensive. While the seasonal shift could introduce logistical hitches and impact ground maneuvers, it doesn’t necessarily signify a cessation of the offensive.

General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, overseeing Ukrainian forces in Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk regions, echoed this sentiment in a dialogue with CNN. He highlighted that their primary mode of advancement is on foot, making them largely resilient to climatic shifts.

However, the ISW underscored that the pivotal elements determining the counteroffensive’s success are the dynamic power equilibrium between Russia and Ukraine, coupled with the robust support Ukraine garners from the West.
